Film Review: Aladin

>Aladin

Finally the wait is over and “Aladin” the classic Arabian Nights tale is showing in theatre near you. This time the attempt has been made by director Sujoy Ghosh. The film has already released and the kids will sure have the blast. “Aladin” is a “U” certified film and promises to give full innocent entertainment.

The film contains the same story line–up. But the presentation has been changed in a contemporary form. Aladin Chatterjee, the lead protagonist in the film stays in Kwahish, the land of wonders. He has been bullied since his childhood and really ashamed of his name. He meets Jasmine in the college. The role has been played by Jacqueline Fernandes. She gives him a lamp. One day he rubs the lamp and then comes “Genius” the genie (Amitabh Bachchan). Aladin has three wishes but he wastes them all on Jasmine!

The twist in the tale comes in the form of Ring Master (Sanjay Dutt) who plays the bad Genie and wants all powers for himself. The climax reaches in a fight between good v/s evil.

The film has many animation effects. Specially, in the scene when Aladin becomes a donkey and his guitar converts in a frog. Besides this the screen presence of Riteish Deshmukh and his innocence expression suits the theme of the film. Jacqueline Fernandes looks very beautiful and her flawless figure carries all types of costume. Sanjay Dutt once again has made a mark as a villain. Over all, Amitabh Bachchan is excellent in his comic timings and hats off to his energy level. In his age, the enthusiasm he portrays onscreen must be appreciated.

Songs are not so humming kind, but the genie rap has been filmed wonderfully. It can be considered as a good entertainer though not reaches the standards of “Harry Potter” series. The desi tale is quite worth watching.
