Oprah Winfrey Donates $1.5M to Atlanta Private School

Oprah Winfrey American television chat show host, producer, and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey donated $ 1.5 million to a private middle school in Atlanta city.

Name of the private middle school is The Ron Clark Academy. The school announced the donation Thursday, 17 December. The school is situated in the city’s poor neighborhoods and is hoping to expand its campus by building a cafeteria, gymnasium and theater.

The innovative school has struggled to raise money to pay for its $2.8 million operating budget. The school is bankrolled almost entirely by donors.

Winfrey, who has invited school founder Ron Clark on her show twice, donated $365,000 to the school last December. Ron Clark is well known author of the best-selling teaching book “The Essential 55.”
