Priyanka and Hrithik awarded as best actors at Apsara Awards!
The Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards presented Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan best actress and best actor award respectively.
Priyanka was not present at the award function so her father Ashok Chopra received the award on her behalf. Priyanka won the award for her terrific performance in Madhur Bhandarkar’s “Fashion”.
After receiving award on behalf of her daughter, Mr. Chopra told reporters, “Oh, I am so happy for her. She has done it again. And getting an award from the patriarch and creators of the film industry is a great thing.”
In the best actor (male) category, Hrithik Roshan received the award for his remarkable performance in Ashutosh Gowariker`s “Jodhaa Akbar”.
The fourth Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards was held at Mumbai’s five star hotel. The Apsara Award is known to recognize excellent work in cinema as well as television field.
The directorial debut of Aamir Khan’s ‘Taare Zameen Par’ bagged two awards of best film and best director.
Renowned actors like Anil Kapoor, Imran Khan, Kangna Ranaut with director Yash Chopra, scriptwriter Amole Gupte and lyricist Prasoon Joshi were present at the award function. The famous academy award winner (for ‘Gandhi’) actor Sir Ben Kingsley also attended the event.
Last year Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards were postponed to give respect to the victims of the 26/11-terror attack in Mumbai. That is why in the forth edition, on Friday Apsara Award selected the winners from 2008 movies. Apsara Award will present the awards for 2009 on December 20.
