Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra Tie Matrimonial Knot
Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and London based businessman Raj Kundra has tied the matrimonial knot on 22nd November 2009 Sunday. Finally the couple has exchanged their marriage vows at the Bawa Villa at Khandala.
The wedding celebration was graced by numerous B-town celebrities and other guests. The wedding ceremony took place at a heavily decorated venue under tight security. Reportedly, Raj rode on a chariot and reached the sparkling Khandala venue to wed his sweetheart Shilpa. The wedding costume of the bride-groom was very traditional.
According to a source, Raj was sporting a turban with his face veiled by a ‘sehra’ made of string of pearls. He was also holding a sword, as per Indian tradition. On the other side, the Bollywood beauty was wearing a saree-cum-lehnga by ace designer Tarul Tahiliani, which was embroidered with Swarovski crystals with red details.
The entire wedding ceremony was full of so many traditional rituals and it was a well blended South Indian – Punjabi wedding. The wedding took place between 5 and 6 pm and was performed in a Bunt style.
Actor Rohit Roy, Jackie Bhagnani and Shamita Shetty performed in the evening. The entire atmosphere became very filmy with the so-called ‘latkas and jhatkas’ by the celebrity guests over there. The marriage vows were exchanged in South Indian style and the pre-marriage rituals were conducted in the Punjabi style.
Shilpa’s business partner Kiran Bawa said, “Shilpa is very happy to get married to Raj. She will be a daughter first, than a daughter-in-law. So I think woh bhangda karke doli mein baithegi”.
According to a source, a reception ceremony has been arranged in Mumbai on November 24 for Shilpa’s Bollywood guests. The couple will then leave for their honeymoon in Bahamas.
