“Today’s Actresses Have No Dignity” says Farah Khan
Ace choreographer and now a successful director, Farah Khan is all set to start her third venture named, “Happy New Year”. In her recent interviews she said, “I had shot Shah Rukh Khan, as Ram Gopal Verma shoot his heroines”.
Farah joined the industry as a Mansoor Khan’s assistant director in the film “Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikander”. As a dance choreographer she always wanted to display the modern contemporary dance form in her choreography.
She also mentioned King Khan as a perfectionist. She said, “When I had told Shah Rukh that I required 98 cameras for a shoot. Shah Rukh spent 20 lakhs and got those 90 cameras flown in from London. Though I had told him not to splurge unnecessarily as we could easily do away with it, Shah Rukh told me that he did not believing in compromising in quality.”
Talking about today’s actresses, she said, “Frankly I feel that the actresses of today do not have the poise and the dignity which the girl’s in 70’ have had. In Om Shanti Om, Deepika fitted the role well, like Hemaji in the 70’s. To prepare Deepika for the role, we gave her voice training and dance classes, besides the three month training in acting course with Anupam Kher.”
