Wake Up Sid Review: Wake-Up Call for All Those “Sids” Who are Still Sleeping

Wake Up SidDharma Productions’ Film “Wake up Sid” has been released and doing good job in the Box Office. There’s not much of a story to tell. It could be related in a five-minute music video – about a boy who takes everything; family, education, comforts for granted and a slightly older, independent girl.

The first half of the movie is all about a happy go lucky guy, who just completed his college and lives his life king size. Ranbir Kapoor, the mail protagonist in the film portrays a character of a rich spoil brat, who is busy with computer games, electronic gadgets, shopping, discotheques and partying with friends.

The story takes turn when Sid is thrown out by his parents after he fails in the examination. He shifts with lady love Aisha Banerji, played by Konkona Sen Sharma. In this film Konkona plays a character of a Bengali girl, who comes from Kolkata to Mumbai to become a writer. The opposite attracts between Sid and Aisha and their chemistry is the main essence in the film.

The film develops with the realization of Sid and when he starts rethinking the responsibilities of life. Debutant director Ayan Mukherjee has proved himself as a dark horse in the industry. The narration style of the film has some resemblance of “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na”.

“Wake up Sid has had a very good occupancy and opening over the first weekend. It is a different movie for different people and is totally a multiplex movie. It is going to have an extended play,” – Hindustan Times.

The movie is going good. After “Dostana” it is another feather in the cap of Dharma Production.
